Erik Gooch, DO Assistant Professor Medical Director of Student Mental Health
The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Eric Gooch as Medical Director of Student Mental Health (SMH). Dr. Gooch completed his residency and a forensic fellowship here at UF before joining the faculty in 2005. His work with the student population has been extensive. Additionally, Dr. Gooch has been fully integrated into the legal, administrative and educational components of the UF system. More specifically, he has served an integral role on the UF Behavioral Consultation Team which deals with students that are behavioral problems on campus, provided Employee Assistance Program services, developed strong relationships with the office of the Dean of Student Affairs/Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, the Office of Financial Affairs, University Police Department, Human Resources and Employee Relations and the General Counsel’s Office. This background makes him an excellent fit for this leadership positon at SMH in addition to his overwhelming endorsement by his peers at SMH. We welcome Dr. Gooch as Medical Director of Student Mental Health.
